Detailed ability breakdowns

These signature abilities now fire in battle with their own damage and cooldowns — a bigger skill or ultimate hits harder, and the two healers restore HP instead of striking. Still on the way here on the site: the full per-ability breakdown (exact multipliers and effects), plus deeper mechanics like status effects and multi-target hits.

Note: in the current build, dedicated healing comes from Kingdom Medic and Cleric of Sol. Other support heroes contribute through their stats and element in the squad.

Lore

Riona Valez graduated top of her class at the most expensive magical academy in the Solstice sphere, which surprised exactly no one, least of all Riona. She is the only child of one of the river-delta's oldest fortunes, she is striking and perfectly turned out and entirely aware of both facts, and she has decided, with the total confidence of someone who has never yet been seriously told no, that she is going to be in charge of things. The startling part — the part that keeps disarming the people who came prepared to dislike her — is that she wants to be in charge so that she can take care of everyone. She means it. That is the whole problem and the whole appeal.

Her magic is restorative and protective, an elegant water-and-light school she mastered young and refined past her instructors, and she runs a squad the way she runs everything: like a project she is personally responsible for completing without losing anyone. She remembers her people's injuries, their families, the exact thing that frightens each of them, and she will spend her own considerable resources fixing problems that were never hers to fix. She is also, in the field, a genuinely brilliant tactician hiding under a slightly imperious manner — she sees the whole board, calls it cleanly, and is right far more often than her years should allow.

The naivety is the part the world keeps trying to exploit. Riona believes, somewhere under all the polish, that most people are basically good and that situations can be fixed if you simply care enough and spend enough, and she has been burned for it — by hangers-on, by a faction or two that read her kindness as leverage, by people who mistook her generosity for weakness right up until her water-wards saved their lives anyway. She has not learned cynicism from any of it. Her companions have quietly appointed themselves the people who watch her back precisely because she is too busy watching everyone else's, and she has not quite noticed they are doing it, which is, they agree, very much the point.
