Detailed ability breakdowns

These signature abilities now fire in battle with their own damage and cooldowns — a bigger skill or ultimate hits harder, and the two healers restore HP instead of striking. Still on the way here on the site: the full per-ability breakdown (exact multipliers and effects), plus deeper mechanics like status effects and multi-target hits.

Lore

The Shadow Blade is on the Crimson Hand's southern-bureau roll under the contract-name Sable (no surname; the bureau's intake-clerks have learned that this category of operative does not give one) and has been on the bureau's roll for seven years, the third-longest tenure after Auvane (char_bounty_hunter) and Renzo Callix (char_renzo_callix). Their contract-class is what the Hand records as 'no-witness work' — engagements where the engagement is closed without any third party observing the operative's presence, entry, or departure. Their contract-record over seven years is forty-one closures with an unverified-entry record (i.e., post-engagement reviews cannot reconstruct their entry-method) of thirty-seven of forty-one. The bureau's standing rule is that the four reviewable entries should not be discussed in their presence, on the grounds that they treat them as professional failures.

Their combat-grant is the discipline the Hand calls 'angle-work' — a movement-form that does not engage the witness's line-of-sight at any point in the entry-to-engagement-to-departure sequence. The form is not magic in the strict sense; it is the application of architectural awareness, light-discipline, and timing to a degree that observers describe as 'impossible' and that the Hand's own training-master describes as 'attainable, with twelve years of dedicated practice and one specific kind of patience.' Sable's twelve years began at age seventeen, on the Hand's training-track that the bureau-master has not opened to a new student since Sable's intake. Whether this is because the bureau-master has not found another candidate or because Sable has not yet endorsed one is a question the bureau's clerks have not asked.

They are on the same kind of professional terms with Auvane and Vex (char_hacker) that the southern bureau's contractor class shares — friendly enough to share information, never close enough to share a contract-engagement. They have worked with Renzo Callix exactly twice, both times on Hand-internal disciplinary matters; the bureau-master has indicated that further pairings would be operationally inappropriate, and Sable has indicated by silence that they agree. They do not work for the Solstice Empire, the Tribal Alliance, the Arcane Syndicate, or the Abyssal Cult; the Empire's investigations-office has filed three open files on them, all of which are listed as 'no progress, contract-class outside imperial reach.'
