Detailed ability breakdowns

These signature abilities now fire in battle with their own damage and cooldowns — a bigger skill or ultimate hits harder, and the two healers restore HP instead of striking. Still on the way here on the site: the full per-ability breakdown (exact multipliers and effects), plus deeper mechanics like status effects and multi-target hits.

Lore

The Kingdom Archer is a line-archer designation rather than a name; the Solstice Empire's southern muster-rolls list one Kingdom Archer per twelve-soldier line-cohort, and the current bearer of the designation in the cohort under consideration is Archer-Corporal Pell Vesti, age twenty-four, six years on the line. Pell trained in the Empire's southern volley-school and holds the school's third-rank wax-string certification — the rank below master-archer, the rank at which a line-archer is considered authoritative on volley-form but not yet on independent shot-selection. The volley-school's standing instruction to third-rank archers is to follow the volley-call exactly; Pell has followed the call exactly across six years.

Her combat-grant is the disciplined volley — coordinated five-archer fire on the volley-officer's signal, with arrival-timing controlled by the wax-string draw measured against the cohort's count-cadence. The volley's effect on enemy line-formations is well documented in Empire field-records, and Pell's contribution is reliability: her arrows arrive within the volley window the cohort's count-cadence permits, in six years of recorded volleys, nine hundred and forty-three of nine hundred and forty-five times. The two outliers were a wax-string failure (one engagement) and a count-cadence error by the volley-officer (the other), both noted in the cohort's records and neither attributed to Pell.

She stands the same line as the Kingdom Recruit (char_kingdom_recruit) and the Kingdom Medic (char_kingdom_medic) in the cohort designated Cohort-Vesti-South-Twelve, named for the volley-officer rather than for any of the line members; the cohort's designation has not changed in three campaigns. The three of them have a small unspoken arrangement — Pell does not draw on a target the Recruit has identified as 'a person,' the Medic moves first to whoever the cohort closes on, and the Recruit covers the gap behind the Medic — that the cohort's volley-officer has noted in writing as 'effective and not in the manual,' a phrase the muster-clerks have not asked to clarify.
